About Linda
Linda MacKenzie is an expressive artist dividing her time between her home in Hampshire and rural France with exploratory journeys in between to new places.
She craves space and connection with the natural world. Subjects that inspire may be found on her doorstep as well as further afield which fuel her obsessive compulsion to paint. Nature constantly surprises with her ability to survive in extreme conditions demonstrating an energy and force which Linda translates into her work.
Earlier life took her to Ontario, Canada, to the edge of fabulous wilderness and exposure to the works of Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven. She owned businesses in Michigan, USA, designing home interiors and made the self discovery of the power and influence of paint and colour. Returning home to Hampshire she was able to pursue her love of painting and has recently completed the diploma art course with Martin Kinnear RCA MA at the Norfolk Painting School.
Her art process is influenced by many but particularly the Impressionist movement; Monet, the master of colour; Van Gogh, the Scottish Colourists, Eric Aho and the American expressionist Joan Mitchell.
Her work is a journey of experimentation chasing the elusive adrenalin fix of colour, form, shape and design. She embraces the physicality of oil paints experimenting with their versatility to uncover the myriad opportunities for expressing how she feels about this transient and ephemeral life on our fragile planet.
